Brake Calipers
Your Ford's brake system is designed to work in all situations - whether you're braking slowly coming up to a stoplight or have to hit the brakes at the last minute. Your brake system is comprised of a multitude of parts that all work together to bring you to a stop when needed. Whether it's stop and go traffic, driving downhill and needing to slow down, or stopping suddenly to avoid a road hazard, your brakes are a critical component of your vehicle. One of these components is the brake calipers. The work of brake calipers is to press your vehicle's brake pads against the face of the spinning brake rotor, causing the car to slow down and stop. Once you step on the brake pedal, the hydraulic pressure created is transmitted through a system of pipes to the calipers. In turn, a piston in each caliper forces the brake pad to squeeze against the rotor. To know whether you need to replace any of your car's calipers, look out for a burning scent when driving, leaking fluid, squeaking noises, or the brake light coming on. You also might notice a change in how stopping feels when you're on the road. Don't ignore these symptoms. Get the brake system checked out right away. When it's time to replace your Ford's brake calipers, check out our great selection here.
